PostSubject: Welfare is the problem   Sat Jul 18, 2009 10:52 pm

I have seriously had it with welfare. I went to Circle K to pick up a pack of gum (in a hurry) and got stuck behind some young girl with her I assume daughter. As I stand there waiting I notice how dirty the little girl is and that she still has on her jammies. Then I am looking at what is being purchased; 3 bags of chips, fountain soda, milk shake and candy. At this point I am getting really annoyed because the (I thought credit card) card she was using was declined. She says "There is over $200.00 on it try it again". As she swipes the card I look and see Ohio Directional Card. WTF I did not know they could buy crap food with that. I work and have a child and I do not get to spend $15.00 on crap food nor would I want too. This is what is wrong with our country. Why can we not take it to they can only get; flour, milk, eggs, ceral, some canned foods and no high dollar meats. If they knew how to cook then maybe that would work. This just pissed me off. I am not even sure I pay $200.00 for food a month because I am very careful with the money I earn. That is the problem they do not earn it so therefor they do not respect it. Evil or Very Mad

i heard that it makes me so made when kids look like they haven't had a bath for a month or an adults hair is so gross, I can not figure out how these people can stand to be that way. I have seen it at the gas stations too when they get soda with the food card, that's just bs. I can see milk or bread but to get a some junk food is just wrong, they do need to limit what people can and can not get with those cards.

and what really pisses me off is when someone that is down on their luck but they made to much money in the past 6 months that they can not get help from our goverment, those are the people that know what it's like to live without not the ones on the food card!
I better stop i'm getting mad bye bye LOL

i know how the both of you feel...it kills me to go in wal-mart and see these customers whose legs are almost black because their diabetes are so out of control, but the use their food stamp card and load up on 15 boxes of fudge rounds, 12 packs of oreos, 10 things of swiss rolls, etc....take care of yourself a little bit better....you wouldn't imagine what crap some people buy with food stamps...they also buy birthday cakes, which is okay, because I want to see the child happy, but one of the other girls told me the other day there was an order for a wedding cake for NEXT year, because the people were losing their food stamps in a few months and didn't want to pay for it. I guess it was a pretty pricey cake....they could have used that money to help a friend or neighbor in need....It kills me that I have 2 young kids and both me and my husband work our asses to the bone @ our full time jobs, and we are told we make too much for food stamps...but I could have 6-7 kids and get help (basically free) for everything from my food to my home to the money I receive, and not work.....some of these moms and others( and I'm not saying all) are so drugged out they wouldn't know their ass from a hole in the ground...My mom and I were talking a while back and thought maybe it would be a smart idea to randomly drug test anyone who receives public assistance....don't tell them what they are coming in for, and if they fail, sorry charlie, but you lose EVERYTHING!....There are major downfalls, like the kids suffering, not enough jobs around here anyways, etc....but I'm sick and tired of helping out the ones around here who don't try to help themselves.

We are not teaching them anything; how to budget; cook; look for work or be hireable! We just give them money because they qualify, Ok so they qualify now what, look at the generations that do not know any other way of living. This needs changed because we can not afford it anymore.

okay, here's a topic I can add my 2 cents about.

I feel like the rest of you. Hate seeing the things people buy on food stamps. Hate knowing that my hard earned dollars are being used so they can have chocolate and steaks while I have meatloaf and chocolate in the form of cereal!

I have tried to get some help to. I work full time. I make too much money. To much of my money goes to my electric bill which just keeps going up and up. I feel when I ask for help, I'm not asking for anything but my money back.

I fill out papers for people all the time about how many hours they work and stuff. All these people can work more hours, but they CHOOSE not to because they know how the system works and will only work enough to keep them off their back and keep their free stuff.

I like the idea of teaching these people how to cook, clean, budget money, take care of kids and I also like the drug test idea. If they fail, they lose everything. Including their children. (I know, this would cause way more problems!) But if they are wacked out on drugs, they aren't taking good care of their children.

Now, not everyone falls into this. There are people who try. Seems though that if you are trying, you get leftovers.

When you apply for most jobs anymore you have to do a drug test, so I think anyone signing up for government help should also be tested. It's only fair.

I agree, so I ask why is it nothing is being done? Is it too hard or too much money? The drug test is an excellant idea. I am just tired of seeing what is happening to this town and all of America but it seems we are allowing it. We want change and reform but the people we elect - from the Mayors to the Presidents do nothing but line their own pockets. The situation that we are in is from greed and avoidance.

I told the clerk what BS I thought it was and she said she sees it all day everyday.

I agree with everyone. I had a step sister who worked the system in Oklahoma. She had her rent, utilities, food, medical for her and her kids, dental for them and she lived with her exhusband who sat on his ass and did nothing. But if they remarried then she would not have been able to get handouts. And they are handouts. She would go shopping and buy absolute crap. It made me sick. She even had a horse that she bought and boarded. She worked under the table babysitting sometimes. All that money was hers free and clear. Evil or Very Mad Now I'm all for bypassing uncle sugar but not when you're living off our money.
